Whilst staying at Chateau Lagorce, it would be a shame not to indulge in a few wine tastes!! Obviously there are lots and lots of wine producing Chateaux in the area, but it is nice not to have to go too far to taste some more expensive / better quality wines, Chateau Lamothe falls into this category. Slightly more expensive than the other local chateau, Lamothe could not just be selling a similar standard wine at a more expensive price, as no one would buy it, actually the complete opposite has happened -in recent years they have had to increase their production considerably to keep up with their demand!
At 85 hectares it is the biggest chateau in the area, and although 80% of their wines are exported, they have great wine tasting facilities. Arriving by the tree lined road, one arrives directly at this beautiful chateau, and is greeted by The Family Neel (all English speaking). The wine tastes take place in a well presented room, with stone wall and rustic table.
Chateau Lamothe produces the following wines, available for sale on site:-
Cuvee Valentine Dry White
Red Premier cuvee
Red Cuvee Valentine
The list goes on with wines from Chateau Manos, and chateau Sauvage……
My tip is to book in advance, and ask Damien to take you down the caves of Lamothe, although Lagorce has its own caves, its nice to see them in use for wine production.
